The John Hartson Foundation

The John Hartson Foundation

When former professional footballer John Hartson was diagnosed with testicular cancer in 2009, doctors soon discovered that the disease had spread to his lungs and brain. After undergoing emergency surgery, John was described as being in a “critical condition”, but thankfully he made a full recovery and was virtually cancer-free by the end of the year.

In 2010, The John Hartson Foundation was launched with the hope of using John’s celebrity as a former footballer to promote men’s health surrounding the issue of testicular cancer, and offer other treatment opportunities which may not otherwise be available to cancer sufferers. The charity also provides counselling and support services to people suffering from the disease, as well as their families.
